Raising children in the world we live in isn't just challenging but comes with lots of strains and sacrificing. Moreover, black parents raising black children of their own have more to deal with. Whether it's dealing with the police, mental and physical health, public safety, or gun violence black parents have more on their plates compared to parents of other ethnic groups. The whip of belts, the usage of hangers and cable wires, and the swinging of palms are disguised as tough love displayed by black parents and received as over the top by black children. It's only when black children hit adulthood when they appreciate and come to a full understanding as to why their parents did what they did. Throughout this essay a fictional newborn baby boy named Aiden Pearson Montgomery will be the subject of discussion. Again, Aiden Pearson Montgomery is not a real person just a product of my imagination. Every word that is written are reflections, viewpoints, opinions, ideas, and philosophies.
Aiden Pearson Montgomery you were born on August 21,2023 at 2:24pm inside of 1155 229 Drive South (Edenwald Houses). Your zodiac sign is Leo. You weighed 7lbs, 5oz. You resembled me in every way (my hair, eyes, and nose), but you had your mother's Indian brown skin. You may not have a crib at the moment but me and your mother are working hard to build a life for you that neither of us had. I don't want you to be like me, a twenty-year-old who has never been on a plane in his entire life. By the time your twenty-years-old you would have been around the world more than twice. The only teachers you will have to worry about is me and your mother. You will be homeschooled on every topic. No public school is going to corrupt the mind of my legacy. Edenwald Houses will not be your permanent residence. This is the same place that shaped and molded your father (through the positive examples). However, no child of mine will have to see and go through what me or their mother went through. It should always be the job of the parents to give their children the life and exposure they never had. Every blow should be thrown at the parents. This is called responsibility and accountability as a parent.
Peer pressure comes in all shapes and sizes. Growing up as a young black man in the projects I have had my shares of taking the high road. Aiden, I'm not hear telling you that you won't have temptations during your walk in life but I'm writing to you as a way to give you constructive advice. Drinking, partying, and sex doesn't change one's condition or make one forget about it. These things only keep one stuck in old ways and ongoing problems. Son, the world is not control by those who are reactionaries but by those who think before they make moves. It is my duty as your father to teach you how to use your mind to get what you want in life. I've never been a good chess player. But it's my great hope that you will play the game and master it to a tee.
Compared to young men between fifteen to twenty-one I was not knee bent over females. Believe it or not at fifteen I lost interest in females and by twenty-one I declared myself celibate. Whenever you hear me say you are a miracle, please believe me. Most men in our society will tell you that when it comes to dealing with females sex matters over everything. I'm here to tell you that that is a lie from the pits of hell (and that's where it belongs). As a man it is your job to make sure you are situated properly before you seek a relationship with a female. Always be yourself and don't change over heartbreaks and rejections. Don't be ashamed to choose you first. Remember that every relationship you form is a piece to the ongoing saga that we call life.
Don't let my soothing words of wisdom fool you, the world is full of lies and false promises. Public figures such as politicians and celebrities are nothing but puppeteers for the elite that truly run this planet. This is why you have to have a relationship with Jesus Christ. Putting your faith in Jesus Christ isn't easy, but it is the best choice you will make. He is the way, the truth, and the life. He is the Son of God. He is the rose of Sharon. He is the lily of the valley. He is the good shepherd. He is so many things to so many people. I encourage you to pray before any action you take and to pray for discernment and guidance.
Although you are a concept that sits at the center of my psyche your still loved and adored. Each day I am molding and shaping you to be the man I wish I could be. With every essay and story, I publish I am giving you a piece of myself that most people have never seen or known. The words I write are a living testament that you being brought into this world is a possibility. If we ever get the chance to meet in this lifetime, I have a ton to show you and teach you.
