The evening of September 11, 2023, was one of mourning and sorrow. Heavy rain and cold winds controlled the atmosphere. Between eulogies and condolences, the remaining members of the Hutchinson family are grieving the death of their patriarch, Klye Eugene Hutchinson Sr. Attendees part their ways and the casket is lowered into the plot. A widow and her five remaining children enter a limousine and leave Woodlawn Cemetery (Bronx, NY).
Within the confines of 1865 Hutchinson's Place (New Rochelle, NY), Klye Sr's widow Elaine and her five children are together for the first time in a long time. Julian and Andrew catch up with scotch and cigars. Stephanie and Stacy are joking about their careers and their personal affairs. Sitting on top of a bean bag chair in a corner of the living room is Matthew. On his lap is a journal where he writes down how he feels about a variety of topics (U.S. Politics, Pop Culture, etc.). The Hutchinsons may have their petty differences, but whenever a circumstance occurs their as united as a tight gripped fist. No family is perfect, and everyone has their issues. If it's one thing their parents taught them it's that your siblings are all you have in this cold world.
Still wearing the clothes she wore to the funeral, Elaine is carrying a big brown book. Entering the living room, Elaine demands the attention and respect from each of her children. "Listen up," said Elaine. "Your father set up a will for each of you to possess. Julian you were given a seat on the board of trustees at Hutchinson's Real Estate." " What? But why?", said Julian. "I got my own without him being involve," Julian continued. "Look, I know you and your father had bumped heads on more than one occasion, but please respect your father's wishes," said Elaine. Andrew and the rest of the siblings try to calm Julian down. Watching it all go down is Matthew with his journal on his lap.
On the flat screen News12 is covering a developing story. According to the words of the reporter an allegation has been made concerning the private affairs of the now deceased Real Estate mogul Klye E. Hutchinson Sr. As the reporter is talking a video of a former intern, Rain Scarlett having a mental breakdown claiming that she was the love of Kyle Sr's life is being shown. Every eye is glued to the television screen as the reporter continues to break the story. The ears of everyone are raised like antennas. Elaine walks towards the television and her five children rally behind her like troops stand behind a general in war.
Before our eyes a chessboard is formed. With the King off the board, it's up to the Queen to lead. What once caused her pieces to be scattered has brought them together. The Queen has a Bishop to her left and a Bishop to her right. A storm is on its way and its goal is to destroy everything in sight. It is safe to say that some of the pieces standing behind the Queen will be replaced in the process. This American family is in for the fight of their lives.
